Canning Beans
A few weeks ago I took advantage of working part-time and went to Buffalo Center and had my mom teach me how to can beans. This is something that I wanted to learn to do for a long time, and am thankful that I am working part time now, and can finally start to take advantage of extra time to try to learn some of these things. It was actually not much work at all, just time consuming. Next year I hope to have my own beans from the garden, but this year with all the morning sickness I just didn't feel up to getting a garden planted. I bought my beans from a lady by Buffalo Center, I bought 22 pounds worth. This made me approximately 40 pints of green beans that we can enjoy this winter! The pictures below and in the next few posts will show you the process of canning beans...Enjoy!
The beans from the garden before we did anything with them
The ends of the beans that we cut off, you throw this part away
The beans with the ends cut off, before they were snapped into smaller pieces

The beans all cleaned, with their ends cut off, snapped and ready to go into their jars
